You have a windows 7 that works on the network in a domain or work group, and you have the same user name and password on a share at home.  It works fine with XP, but not Windows 7.  Then try this registery edit list below:

1 . Open registry editor ( Start search - regedit)
2 . Browse to  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
3.  Create a new DWORD value  with the following properties:   NAME: LmCompatibilityLevel
VALUE: 1

The entry may already be present and set to 3

If so change it to the value of 1 and rebooted, all should be fine.
